Project and programme managementI can provide very effective Project and Programme Management services. I have managed many projects and programmes covering the entire project lifecycle stages. Size - I have managed quite small projects and supervised a programme of £70m in value and 250 staff. Typically projects have been in the £1-2m range with teams of around 10 including significant third party suppliermanagement. Nature - I have managed a number of software developments controlling technical teams however this is usually just one key element of the project. I am comfortable managing technical development projects but I am at my best managing projects and programmes where a substantial business and operational involvement is required. My strengths lie in my approach toward and thorough understanding of the retailing business and my experience working at all levels with operators to ensure that projects are optimally managed to deliver the maximum benefit. My ability to rapidly assess business requirements, devise appropriate solutions, manage large project teams and technical specialists plus maintain a good working relationship with the business enable me to take on new major programmes and projects, troubleshoot existing projects and provide effective, business responsive management. An overview of all the projects and programmes I have been responsible for are provided in the Project History. Intarim managementMy extensive business unit management experience combined with my retailing and systems expertise provide a strong basis for providing interim management services. I have controlled and been financially accountable for departments with up to £5m annual expenditure and £20m capital budgets. I have directly managed teams of up to 21 staff and 250 indirectly. Spells running my own business and as a director of a software house with £1.5m venture capital funding also provided me with a broader perspective on business unit management as well as financial planning and control. I am well used to board level working having been either a director or a senior manager reporting to a director for much of the last 25 years. I regard my communication, presentation and personal relationship skills to be of a high standard. I have a thorough understanding to man management and HR practices. My ability to focus and drive a team towards achievement of challenging targets has been demonstrable. I feel confident being placed into new situations where I can rapidly become effective and gain the confidence of in-house teams. I provided interim Programme, Service and I.T. Management services to Pizza Hut U.K. during 2001/2. Consultancy assignmentsWhilst I am a very effective 'hands on' manager, I can also be applied to more passive consultancy tasks. Here my extensive knowledge and experience can deliver effective results for business and strategic analysis, planning, post implementation reviews, evaluations, business plans and organisational reviews. A key benefit of using me to carry out such assignments is that I am usually fully able to implement any resultant plans or recommendations should that need arise. Such skills can also be utilised more actively in a troubleshooting role where I may work alongside existing management teams to resolve issues or bring wayward projects / programmes back on track.
